Nationally Recognized Miami Business Leader Ready to Provide Vision and Leadership to Miami-Dade Residents

District 8— April 21, 2010 — Annette Taddeo has announced that she's seeking the District 8 seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission. The Founder and CEO of LanguageSpeak believes Miami-Dade voters deserve an “inclusive, independent leader committed to transparency and accountability in local government.”

A District 8 resident, Taddeo said “I'm committed to making a difference for the residents of District 8; we need to build a better community together.” District 8 covers an area that includes in part East Kendall, The Falls, Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay, the Redland, Homestead and unincorporated Southwest Dade. The area is currently represented by Commissioner Katy Sorenson who is leaving public office for the private sector.

Taddeo is no stranger to hard work and her business acumen makes her uniquely qualified to represent Miami-Dade residents on the County Commission. Her thriving company, LanguageSpeak, offers translations, conference interpretation and private tutoring in more than 100 languages to a roster of blue chip clients. LanguageSpeak was named last year as a Top-100 small business in Florida and a Top-500 small business in the United States by DiversityBusiness.com.

The organizational skills Taddeo employed to become a successful entrepreneur have also allowed her to commit to both her family and community. Annette has twin 19-year old step-daughters and a nearly 4-year old daughter; she and her husband Dr. Eric Goldstein belong to Beth Am Congregation. Taddeo is a member of the exclusive Committee of 200, Past-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer of the Coalition of Dade County Chambers of Commerce, Past Chair of the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade County and has also served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce as well as the Beacon Council and the Executive Committee of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. She was appointed by Miami-Dade County to the Safe Neighborhood Parks Citizens Oversight Committee.
